The Quran is divided into thirty juz of roughly equal length; each juz holds two hizb, and each hizb four quarters. The division is a memorisation and daily-reading aid: it is not part of the revelation and does not vary between riwayat — Qaloun's juz are the same as Hafs's, the difference between them lies in the recitation, not in where the divisions fall.

Juz, hizb and quarter — what is the difference?
A juz is one of thirty sections read at a rate of one per day, completing the Quran in a month — one juz per night during Ramadan, for instance.
A hizb is half a juz, so sixty in total. It is the most common division across the Maghreb, and in Tunisia especially, where the hizb is recited in the mosque after prayer.
A quarter (thumn in the Maghreb) is a quarter of a hizb, two hundred and forty in all. It is the smallest unit used to set a daily reading or a memorisation lesson.
